Spring is coming oh, so near. But the chills that this year’s bite has taken out of us all, will never tame our burning creative hearts.
Before I begin mention of other metropolitan events, I’d like to give a shout out to a local event here in Brighton. If you are looking to truly capture the Celtic spirit of this green month, Jerry Barlow will be playing a set of Celtic Guitar music at our public library starting at 2 p.m. on the 22nd. Surely that should bring about a sense of ancient mysticism in any who may attend.
Wine? Fine art? You’ve got my attention! Located in a funky urban industrial condo, at 4640 Pecos Street, in Denver, you’ll find Bonacquisti Wine Company (DenverWine.com). Thanks to an Italian family that emigrated to Colorado in 1900, we get to enjoy the fruits of their passion. And while enjoying those fruits (grapes predominately), you can peruse the oil paintings of local artist, Jared Steinberg, opening on the 8th and remaining the month of March. Jared paints his own passions that resonate within us all: water, earth, buildings, people, and music. His work can be described as a form of Contemporary Expressionism, as he distorts the subject matter to fit within the dimensions of a canvas to tell his story. If you wish to sample Jared’s work beforehand, visit JaredSteinberg.com.
Let’s drift toward our Native American culture, and the Denver March Powwow, held at the Denver Colisseum March 21-23. Gorge yourself with the arts and crafts, drums, dancing, storytelling, and of course, good eats. You gotta get some of that Fry Bread!
Well, there are three events as culturally diverse in their appeals as Brighton is becoming in it’s population. We are privileged in living here, amongst great minds, spirits, and artistic ambitions…. let’s see how far we can push it!
