This will not be an easy year to keep services at the same levels as 2006 and 2007; however, there is a commitment by the Department Directors and City Management to fill the voids reasonably throughout the year.
There are several high profile projects that the staff will keep moving forward, such as the planning and financing of the Senior & Adult Recreation Center, the purchase of a new water supply and the construction of the infrastructure to convey the water to Brighton residents, the planning of the new Multi-Events Complex and proceeding with the permitting for the Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant construction.
Based upon several national economists’ forecasts, the Colorado economy should see signs of improvement near the end of 2008. The prospects for the 2009 Budget Year seem very positive with the new commercial growth and a possible spark for the residential building market as well.
