Help for Homes:

One of the things that make Brighton unique is the commitment to care. In the case of Help for Homes, that commitment is neighbors helping neighbors. It began three years ago with the City of Brighton working cooperatively with Brothers Redevelopment, Inc. They designed a program for low-income senior and disabled homeowners for minor exterior home repair and painting. Volunteer teams from the community were recruited from Brighton Housing Justice, local service clubs and local churches. Since its inception, 50 homeowners have received assistance and over 645 volunteers have given of their time and talents to fix up the homes.

The next work day will be Saturday, May 10. Volunteers are needed. If you are 18 and interested in donating a Saturday to help someone in need, call Sue Corbett at 303-655-2076 or Rhonda Hill at Brothers Redevelopment, Inc at 303-202-6340x4225.

Homeowners who are low-income seniors or are disabled individuals and live in the City of Brighton are welcome to submit an application to have their homes painted September 27. Applications are available by calling Ermie at 303-655-2075. Applications are due August 14
