Health News: Do You Enjoy Low Back Pain?
Article By Dr. Jim Campbell

Has back pain ever done anything for you? Well it has for me, it’s the way I met my wife! About 20 years ago, she slipped on some ice by her car in NJ and fell and hurt her back. She tried to go to work but the pain was so bad that when she dropped a pencil on the floor she couldn’t pick it up. She called a friend of hers and was sent to me—lucky me! She’ll tell you she’s lucky, too, because at the time she was scheduled to have Carpal Tunnel surgery and in the process of treating her low back pain, her carpal tunnel pain also went away. As she found out, the most successful treatment of low back pain doesn’t involve any drugs or surgery.

Are you a back pain sufferer? Millions of Americans are suffering with low back pain right> now. Are you one of those people wondering why your back hurts, why the pain doesn’t just go away, and if you’ll ever be able to live like you used to? Nothing is worse than living here in Colorado and not being able to go out and enjoy Nature at its best because back pain is limiting your ability to participate in the things you love to do like hiking, skiing, playing with the kids and walking the dog! It’s human nature to try and tough it out, focus on everything else you have to do in your busy life, and hope that if you ignore the pain, it will eventually go away. But a pain that intrudes on your life when you lie down, sit up, bend over or even just stand for a long period of time gets hard to ignore.

The real cause of your back pain may have happened to you years ago. It may have been a small injury that you might not even have noticed at the time, but over the years, it just got worse and like the straw that broke the camel’s back, you bent over quickly, or picked up a heavy box or moved a piece of furniture that you should have waited for help to do and you got a sharp piercing pain. Ouch!!! Temporary relief might come from over the counter pain medications so you can get on with your life but the drugs only work to disable your brain’s ability to feel the sensation of pain coming form your back. The cause of the pain is still there, you just can’t feel the pain. And because you can’t feel it, your body has no way to stop you from re-injuring your back. Since your body is effectively disabled from protecting you, you may only hurt yourself more by masking the pain by taking additional pills.

Obviously, drugs are not the way to go when it comes to getting rid of the real cause of low back pain. I’ve had over 25 years experience and over 1,000 hours of post graduate training in pain relief. I never feel like I have THE answer because there is always something new to learn about pain relief....Read More
